We are continuing our color spectrum series but before moving to yellow hues I must stop and express my obsession with what I am calling rose quartz. This soft hue is in full fashion right now and can be called so many names – Blush, rose gold, petal…Apple has Pink Sand…Sherwin-Williams has Pink Lotus to name just a few. The range is soft pinks and even into very soft ivory with coral tint. But – this is not peach! You can walk through any fashion- forward retailer or look at fashion and design publications and you will be bombarded with this easy-going hue.
Why do I love it?
First of all, to me it optimizes femininity. In a world where so many of us women are in constant motion our balance can swing to yang from yin very frequently. Sometimes we can lose our sense of who we are because we are always looking to “get things done” or “cross something off the list”, all very masculine and yang. Even creative energy is yang. We have to intentionally look for ways to soften, relax, and simply feel more feminine.
No Brainer!
Wearing this color is almost a no-brainer if you are wanting to feel more feminine or relaxed. While it does not take the place of intentional activities to soften our tough selves such as a regular yoga practice, meditation, journaling, or your favorite way to decompress, you will get instant satisfaction putting on something in a rose quartz tint. I can almost guarentee you will feel pretty and elegant. That doesn’t mean to disregard all the other vibrant colors in our closets- just have some of these tints to work with especially with the warmer weather approaching.
Using this Color
Using this color in your home decor can be both lovely and tricky. Painting your bedroom one of these tints is sure to increase romance, just be aware some tints may look like a baby’s room- others might look like mauve from the 80’s. I recently put up a few swatches and my husband could not get on board. Of course fabrics and accents can do the trick without as much commitment as painting walls. Look at these gorgeous wall covering samples – even in small doses adding textural interest with one of these can surely transform a space.
The Crystal
The crystal rose quartz is the stone of unconditional love and infinite peace. It is the most important crystal for the heart and heart chakra, teaching the true essence of love. It purifies and opens the heart on all levels and brings deep inner healing and self-love. We all can benefit from opening and healing our hearts especially in today’s world.
There are endless ways beautiful rose quartz can be introduced to your world. If you haven’t already, give it a try and enjoy the tranquility!
